Monsoon may have started doing grand cameos in our daily lives but the heat continues to be that unwelcome guest who refuses to leave on time. Ramzan arrives at a time when we need that break from gorging on ice-cold treats and sugar-filled soda’s to quench the summer heat. The holy month of Ramzan flips your life around and changes your bio-clock in more than just one way. You find yourself waking up at 4 am and eating till you can’t anymore. Exercising and dieting are pushed to the farthest corner of the room. Then how can you ensure that this month blesses you with health too? Here are some tips to get you started.
1) Eat at Suhoor, and eat well
Suhoor, the first meal of the day should be a balanced, wholesome meal which will keep you fuelled for the entire day. So make sure you dig into some complex carbs such as oats, wheat, and lentils. Also, toss in some fibre-rich veggies and a boiled egg or a few slices of cheese to check all the right boxes. Wanna keep it light and not end up munching in the early morning hours, then simply sip on some fresh juices with RAW cold-pressed juices. Rich in fiber, vitamins, and minerals, these juices will up your health quotient like none other.
2) Keep those sweets and fats at bay
After fasting for 15 to 18 hours a day, we’re sure the hunger pangs will strike. But all that glitters is not gold. Although delicious, fast-burning foods like sugar and fatty items are low in nutrients while being super high in calories. These will leave you feeling tired and hungry and your body will lose out on the nutrients it requires to continue with the fast-cycle the next day.
3) Hydration is key
Remember to drink plenty of fluids in between Iftaar and Suhoor to keep your body hydrated. But it isn’t time to embrace that coffee just yet. Caffeine stimulates water loss and leads to dehydration. The healthier option is water and of course, delicious Raw Pressery cold-pressed juices, which have no processed sugar but only natural goodness.
4) Rest the afternoon away
Take that short afternoon nap, you need it. It will help regularize your schedule and keep your body energized for the day ahead. It is also best to postpone work-out sessions and long walks till after Iftaar when it is still possible to hydrate yourself and meet its energy requirements.
This period of fasting comes with immense health benefits when followed correctly. It helps many with their bad cholesterol and blood sugar levels while instilling self-discipline and control over one’s desires and cravings. And with these tips, we are sure Ramzan will pass by with pleasant memories for all. We wish you all a blessed Ramzan and a healthy and happy year ahead.
